What Will I Get?
Cisco Ip Desk Phone
A robust and aesthetically pleasing deskphone designed for business. This has a large digital display to show current caller ID (free), missed calls and quick options (place customer on hold, new call, redial, remote call forwarding to another number which is also free)
This deskphone will work in the same way as any other phone and comes with a raft of premium features such as mute, loud speaker and free bespoke voicemail.
OR
Softphone
A softphone is a cheaper option than the Cisco IP Deskphone. We recommend this where the phone usage is going to be light. A softphone can be downloaded free from http://www.3cx.com/voip/softphone/ for Windows users. Mac user may need to purchase this as an application.
A Softphone will install on your machine and act in exactly the same way as a standard phone. You will need to dial numbers or answer calls with mouse clicks on the keypad on screen. Other features such as caller ID are still available.
A PC headset with a MIC will also be required. These can be purchased at an PC store from £20+
*Billion Business Router
The router that your supplier (or ISP) has given you may support VOIP. In some cases the router sent will not support VOIP as they are low quality (especially Thompson). We can test this by putting a Softphone on your machine and placing a call to it.
Sky Residential will explicitly not allow customers to use any other router but their own. A Sky Residential router will not support VOIP.
Assuming you are not a Sky customer and your router does not support VOIP, we will pre-configured a billion business router for you with your current username and password. Just swap these over and your router connection will now support VOIP
Single Saffwood Phone Extension
This is the Cloud Based Extension that your Cisco IP Deskphone or Softphone will connect to. You don’t need to worry about this as we configure everything for you. You can just make and receive calls like any other phone line.
There are two options for which number you phone displays when calling out. You can set your Saffwood line to display your current home number, or if you decide you want an extra line that can be called into as well, we can get a direct dial number***** of your choice and display this
**Saffwood Auto Attendant
This is an option feature that businesses of any size may elect for. For small or home offices it is particularly appealing as if promotes a mature business presence.
When someone calls your number, they will hear a welcome message tailored to your business (“Welcome to ABC LTD, we will now connect your call”). Following this you can either directly connect the customer, or give them some options (for accounts press 1, for service press 2). When the customer selects an option, your phone will ring a display the caller ID and the option they selected IE:
“Call From Service - 0845 241 1008”
This can promote a large enterprise feel for businesses of any size.
***Ethernet Plug Socket
If you elect for a Cisco Deskphone and your office is not next to your router, you will need to ensure that your IP Phone can still connect via network cable to your router. To do this without having a cable trail across the floor, you can buy an Ethernet plug socket.
Simply plug the socket in next to your router, then plug a network cable from the router into the socket. Place the other Ethernet plug socket in your office, then plug a network cable into this to your phone. The broadband signal is now being transmitted through your mains connection at 200MB per second.
****Ethernet Cable/s
These can be purchase at any PC store or online for a fraction of the price.
*****Direct Dial Number
Your Two Numbering Options:
1) Display your current home / business number when calling out from the VoIP extension. The disadvantage here is that calls into your business will still be directed to your current analogue line 2) Rent and direct dial. This can be a local number or a non geographic (08). The advantage is that customer can now call into your VoIP extension by calling the number of your choice
