If you are moving your business, then ensuring a smooth transfer of your business lines needs to be considered.
How Long Should I Give Myself To Move?
It is vital to understand how much time you should allow when ordering your services around a planned move date. There is nothing worse than having to push back your move date at the last minute because your telephone lines or Internet service at the new site is not live yet. This can happen easily if you leave it too late, it is not uncommon for BT to run past their normal recommended lead times for telephone lines, especially if an unforeseen snag appears, such as additional equipment needed in the local exchange or additional cabling to your new site.

As a general rule we would recommend considering your options for telephone lines and Internet connectivity at your new site at least 8 weeks before your planned move date, this way we can make all the relevant checks, explain options and costs, make decisions on which services to order and manage them in a timely way handling all required surveys well in advance and then pushing back delivery dates to fit with your move dates. This is so much better than trying to chase services into your new site last minute to make sure you can still move.
If you have left it a little late, don't worry, just contact us now and we can help you quickly get the ball rolling to hit your move dates. Remember, the key advantage of Hosted Phone Systems in a building move is a highly swift implemenation. Providing you have internet at your new site, a setup can be conducted in days dependant on circumstance, but generally we reccomend never leaving it so late!

A Key advantage ofHosted IPandSIPis that you can keep your numbers even if you move out of your local area. Once a number has been migrated to Saffwood, you can take the number anywhere in the UK even if it is a local area number. It's important to remember that porting a number takes time (c10 working days). If you have left this late, then there are temporary redirection options we can supply for you.

We constantly find businesses calling us after they have moved as their current internet provider can no longer provide a fast enough service and the new premises. Unfortunately there is not always a solution to this. They key item is the check through Saffwood Communications what the connectivity options are before you commit to new premises. You can review our broadband a buyers guide for a wealth of impartial information. We reccomend that you give contact us as soon as you have a premises in mind. We can check all the carriers and connections in your area for broadband, and even go ahead and get a install date booked for you.
If you want to keep the same phones and equipment which you have now, they you will need to reviewSIPas a migration option. For office moves with approximately 10 handsets, thenHosted Telephonyand new handsets will most likely be a cheaper option.
Making sure that your equipment is installed, tested and rolled out in time allows great business continuity. Our engineers are highly trained telecom engineers who only deal with office moves, new business setup and ongoing telecoms care.
Down time refers to a period where your telephony and other services are in migration from one site to another. If you are moving businesses and want to avoid any downtime, then Saffwood can support you in a seamless office move with no downtime whatsoever. They key element here is good planning. Our business migration team move dozens of business each month and provide expert advice and guidance for you. Where possible, we reccomend the following:

- Plan your move in the quiet times where possible
- Don’t plan for a weekend move (few suppliers offer support at the weekends)
- Ensure that you can place a call forward from your current provider
- Setup temporary lines to handle calls made to your current number whilst it is down
- Be realistic about how long this will take
- Investigate the physical infrastructure of your new site (IE where phones, cabling etc is going to go
- Investigate what connectivity options are in your area (your currently supplier may have a slower connection in your area, or not be able to provide there at all)
If you can avoid leaving your telecom plans until too late, this will give you ample time to explore options and weigh costs allowing a smooth migration.

We recently moved from our store in Covent Garden to a mail order and online business in a different phone exchange area. Phones are essential to our business and it was important that there was no "down-time", and keeping our well recognised phone numbers was also vital. At the same time we were looking for a cost-effective system.
We contacted Saffwood, who were more than helpful with their advice and nothing has seemed too much trouble for them. They setup our Hosted VoIP phone system for less than their competitors, and it was a simple matter of plugging the phones in on day 1 in our new warehouse. They also arranged all our internet lines to be live before our move day.
It could not have been simpler.– Harry Ganz, Owner
